Unity

Luke Puckett
15 February 2004

“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1).  It was Christ’s desire for those who had not yet believed in Him while He was on the earth, to come to the faith by way of love and unity, demonstrated by the actions of Christians who worshiped Him.  It was God’s plan for Christians to emulate Christ and continue to grow the church until Christ’s return for the final judgment.  As Christians today we gather together to demonstrate this unity so that the world can learn of Christ and what He has done for mankind by making His sacrifice on the cross.

“Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 15:5-8).

In the ‘One Another’ class, it has been discussed that each of us as individuals have totally different personal interests and focus of our lives - mainly to our life with family and career interests.  What makes us different from the rest of the world is the life of a Christian.  This includes our spiritual family and it should be our focus to help one other reach the goal of Heaven, where those who believe in their faith will be reunited with Christ when he returns.  “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also” (John 14:3).

As Christians, we all need to remember we have been unified together for a common goal and we need to strengthen our bond with each other to reach this end.
