Personal Evaluation Exercise

Tim Smelser
04 January 2004

     With the previous article in mind and with goals being set for the New Year, I encourage you to consider the following questions.  Many will probably not bother with reading the verses and honestly assessing themselves.  However, for those who sincerely desire to do better in the weeks and months to come, this exercise will prove profitable.

 1.  Read the following passages:  Ephesians 4:16; Colossians 2:19

 2.  List the ways in which you, as a part of the body “work in due measure unto the building up of the body in love.”  For example:  Do you exhort fellow Christians (Hebrews 10:24)?  Do you communicate unto the necessities of the saints (Romans 10:24)?  Are you given to hospitality?  Do you take heed lest by any means your liberty becomes a stumbling block to the weak (1 Corinthians 8:9)?  Do you, in a spirit of gentleness, seek to restore those overtaken in trespass (Galatians 6:1)?  Et cetera.

 3.  Read the following passages: Acts 2:44-47; Acts 9:36-39;

     1 Cor. 14:26; 16:1-2; 1 Timothy 5:10; Hebrews 10:24-25; 13:17

 4.  List the ways in which you, as a member at Traders Point, contribute something to the building up of the body. (Some of the things listed above may be repeated here.)

 5.  If your lists are on the skimpy side, read John 15:1-6.  Are you in danger of being cast into the fire and burned?
